How Dedicated Hosting Works
When we speak of web hosting servers, there are three principal types - hosting servers, VPS (virtual servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web hosting servers host many clients and so the system resources per web hosting account are restricted, VPS offer more configuration liberty, but also influence other virtual private hosting servers on the hardware node if used imprudently, and dedicated servers give you the liberty to perform everything you desire without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you require a dedicated servers?
16 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x240 GB nvme Hard Drives
32 GB DDR4 ECC REG RAM
2x480 GB nvme Hard Drives
Dedicated servers are typically much more high-priced than shared servers or virtual private web servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The answer is quite simple. If your company has a resource-devouring online portal, or just has very precise server configuration requirements, the most logical choice would be a dedicated servers. For someone who is willing to invest in security and reliability, the higher price is not an issue. You are bestowed with full server root privileges and can use 100 percent of the physical machine's system resources without anyone else sharing these resources and meddling with your web portals.
Hardware specifications
Most web hosting suppliers, including us at CXF Host, provide different hardware configurations you can choose from depending on your necessities. The hardware configurations include different varieties of microprocessors, a different amount of cores, different RAM and server hard disk drive sizes and different web traffic usage quotas. You can pick a web hosting CP, which is a handy GUI if you want to use the dedicated servers for website hosting purposes solely and prefer not to use a Secure Shell terminal for all the changes you will be making. We provide 3 types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The web hosting CP of your choice
If you are a self-assured Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated servers through a Secure Shell tunnel only. That, though, could be awkward, particularly if you choose to grant full server root access to someone else who has less technical proficiency than yourself. This is why having web hosting Control Panel software pre-installed is a fine idea. The Hepsia Control Panel tool that we offer does not give you root privileges and is mostly appropriate for somebody who has plenty of web sites that require lots of resources, but wishes to manage the web portals, databases and electronic mail addresses through a user-friendly Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant root privileges and offer 3 access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell web hosting plans rather than using the dedicated servers only for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup procedures
Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated servers and of backing it up. In case of a predicament with your web hosting server, such as a non-responsive Apache or an outage, it is desirable to have some sort of monitoring platform activated. Here at CXF Host the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated servers too. Backups are also an additional feature - the hosting solutions provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could select a kind of RAID that would permit you to keep the same data on 2 server disk drives as a precaution in case of a server hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full root access deletes something by accident.
